Springinmystep expected to shine in Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup Sprint (Handicap)
Springinmystep is expected to spring up a surprise in the Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup Sprint (Handicap) at Ascot in England on Saturday, August 11, 2012. He will have to battle 11 other runners for a cash prize of £14,754.
No runner seems to be in a dominant position right now, thus is will be hard to predict the winner accurately. The bookmakers feel that Heeraat will be a solid contender for victory in the race, thus they have given him the best odds. He does not have an
impressive record though, as he has managed to win just once out of seven attempts.
Furthermore, the three-year-old colt brought up his only victory in 2011, which means that he is low on confidence right now. It will be difficult for him to win the 6 furlong event easily, especially on a good to firm track.
However, Springinmystep appears to be in good touch at the moment and it will be difficult to stop him from taking the top spot in the end. He has been given a general starting price of 13 to 2 by the bookies and the punters will definitely think of risking
a few bets on him.
The Irish runner has appeared in just four races during the ongoing season and his performances in them have been worth witnessing. He only failed to deliver in one of the events, but things have worked out extremely well for him otherwise.
Overall, the three-year-old colt has participated in 11 races, winning a couple of them and finishing runner up on the same number of times. In addition to that, he has secured the third place once in his career.
However, Ascot has not been a favourite track for Springinmystep, as he has struggled to perform well here. He has participated in just a couple of events at this venue and failed to finish in the top three on both occasions.
Despite that, the Michael Dods’ trainee is likely to bounce back strongly and things seem to be shaping out well for him. For the first time in his career, he will be partnered by seasoned jockey, James Doyle and the pair has a great opportunity to shine
in the class-2 event.
