Sprint Cup Champion Brad Keselowski aiming for another title – NASCAR news
After winning his first NASCAR Sprint Cup title, the Penske Racing driver Brad Keselowski is aiming for another NASCAR crown.
“I’m proud to be where we’re today. It just makes me want to fight that much harder to make it happen again. I am not happy winning one championship. I’m going to continue to fight as hard
as I can. I’m going to enjoy the one that we have won so far and hopefully continue to add to it,” Keselowski said during a NASCAR Sprint Media Tour stop.
Last year, not many NASCAR experts foresaw Keselowski’s victory. But the end of 2012 Sprint Cup brought Keselowski his first Sprint Cup title and five NASCAR race wins, pushing Keselowski’s
total number of career wins to nine.
For Keselowski and Penske Racing, the daunting task of defending the Sprint Cup title starts on February 24, 2013 with Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway. Roger Penske, owner of
Penske Racing, has high hopes that Keselowski will be able to repeat history in the upcoming NASCAR season.
“We’ve got a foundation, we’ve got the experience. Once you’ve smelled that top spot, this is something you can’t buy. You don’t get voted in. You win it. We’re excited and we’re ready,”
Penske said on Wednesday.
Following A.J Allmendinger’s retirement last year, Joey Logano, former Joe Gibbs Racing driver, will be racing as Keselowski’s teammate. According to Penske, the racing team will introduce
a number of changes in the 2013 season, Penske Racing’s switch from Dodge to Ford being one of the changes. This means both Keselowski and Logano will be driving a Ford in the upcoming Sprint Cup championship.
During the NASCAR Sprint Media Tour stop, mayor of Mooresville presented Keselowski and Penske with keys to the town since they were the first to have brought a Sprint Cup trophy to Mooresville.
With exactly a month to go in the start of 2013 Sprint Cup season, Keselowski’s motivation to claim another Sprint Cup title seems to be at its apex. Of course he will start the season as
a favourite but only time will tell how things shape up for him.
