I'm new to NASCAR and i don't get something.

After those 8 (i think) races that left, only 12 people will make the chase. But after that does the point and everything start all over? I really don't know how it works...

will someone that is 12 will be able to take the championship?

seriously i don't know please explain.

  1. The last 10 races. The points are reset to a 5 points difference and you get 10 bonus points for a win. So Kyle Busch has 7 wins so he'll be roughly 75 points ahead of the 2nd place driver unless Kyle wins more races or the 2nd place driver does.

  2. When 10 races are left, NASCAR takes the highest 12 in points and allow them to compete for the Chase. The points are reset for those 12. Everyone has the same points EXCEPT for a bonus given for wins. Any win you got that season gives you 10 extra points. Someone that is 12 could certainly win the championship if they did awesome in those last 10 races.

  3. Yes the points start over and any driver who has had a win will get an additional 10 pt bonus.  So for example if the chase were to end right now Kyle busch would have 5070 pts While Dale jr would have 5010.  The below link explains it a bit better then I did.
