Sprinter Sacre and Sizing Europe to clash at Cheltenham
Sprinter Sacre and Sizing Europe will take on each other in the Queen Mother Champion Chase at Cheltenham in England on Tuesday, April 23, 2012. Both of them are quality runners and will definitely entertain one and all in the race.
In their most recent meeting at Cheltenham last month, the former of the two was absolutely dominant and did not allow anyone to get closer. He was rated as the outright favourite to succeed and did not disappoint his fans at all.
The seven-year-old gelding was given a general starting price of 1 to 4, which clearly showed that the bookies had immense faith in his abilities. He also managed to win the confidence of the punters, as they placed the maximum number of bets in his favour.
Sprinter Sacre started off the race strongly and kept on increasing his speed with the passage of time. He knew that the overall distance to cover was 2 miles, so he did not push hard at the start. Once he got into control, no one was able to come anywhere
closer to him, as he won by a staggering margin of 19 lengths.
Therefore, his trainer Nicky Henderson is quite confident of securing another victory at Cheltenham tomorrow.
He stated, “If the forecast is correct, I think we'll get under way on soft, heavy in places on all our tracks - chase, hurdle, bumper and cross-country. Not having a spring and having such a tough winter means we're way behind where we normally would be
but that being said we are lucky to have five separate hurdle tracks for each of the five days.”
The veteran trainer went onto say, “On the chase track there is scope to move each day. Our fences are winged in so we'll open the wings, widen the fences, provide ground around the bends and do as much as we can.”
Overall, Sprinter Sacre has participated in 15 races, winning 13 of them. He finished as a runner up and in third place one time each, which shows that he has never been kicked out of the top-three by anyone.
On the other hand, his rival Sizing Europe is also a quality performer, as he has bagged 19 wins out of 36 attempts.
