Sprinter Sacre to be dominant in the Grade 1 John Smith’s Maghull Novices’ Chase at Aintree on 14th April
The Grade 1 John Smith’s Maghull Novices’ Chase will be raced over two miles at Aintree on Saturday, 14th April. The purse set for the race is £56,270 and it has attracted a line-up of four runners. All the candidates for the race today have posted victories quite recently.
The most promising entry for the race is Sprinter Sacre, Network’s six-year-old bay gelding out of mare, Fatima III. He has ventured twice ever since the new season took off and is still unbeaten. Not only was he extraordinarily impressive in the current season rather he exited the previous season in style too with two victories under belt.
The third leg of his hat trick came through the seasonal debut of 2012 and by claiming the second start of the campaign, he stretched the winning streak to four.
Sprinter Sacre cracked into the season on 17th February in the Grade 2 Betfair Super Saturday Chase (Registered As The Game Spirit Chase) at Newbury over two miles and a furlong. He was the 2/5 favourite winner with Barry Geraghty onboard.
Finishing the closest to the winner was French Opera who was adrift by six lengths. Catching up with the third ranking after the winner was I’m So Lucky.
He was then entered as the 8/11 favourite in the Grade 1 Racing Post Arkle Challenge Trophy Chase on 13th March at Cheltenham over two miles. Ridden by Barry Geraghty, the two led the final seven lengths of the track that was set for six to race.
Cue Card qualified as the runner up while joining the leading pair on the other end of the wire was Menorah.
His second last attempt of the last season was in the Atteys Solicitors Novices’ Chase on 9th December at Doncaster over two miles and half a furlong. The 2/9 favourite of the race led the field of six by a staggering twenty-four lengths.
The runner up of the race was Lightening Rod and getting hold of the third slot was Altan Khan.
Sprinter Sacre then claimed the final start of the 2011 season, leading the line-up of the Grade 2 Williamhill.Com Novices’ Chase (Registered As The Wayward Lad Novices’ Chase) by sixteen lengths on 27th December at Kempton.
