  1. I'm not sure why she would tell you this because when I was a teenager I did up to Intermediate ballet and national level sprinting with no problems. I am now a dancing teacher and have not heard of that. i've asked my mum(my dancing teacher) and she's never heard of it except where injuries were caused by the running. Ask your teacher to explain.

  2. well its bad for your knees and it builds muscles on the top of your thigh, where in ballet that is not good because you're supposed to be working from the underpart of your thigh, and this will make it harder and less attractive when you wear tights.

  3. i think its because sprinting gives your figure a more muscular physique, were as ballet you are suppose to be lean and light, maybe long distance running might help but i really dont know?

  4. I think it is because well first I want to tell you that running is a terrific sport but it is not so great for your knees and that could be affecting ballet

  5. Tough question.

But I know sprinting builds up muscles and maybe it isn't very nice for a ballerina to have bulky muscles at your legs?

I'm interested to know the answer as well. Let me know.

Think you should direct your question at your teacher

  6. i do ballet. and i might be going on pointe

and next year at school i will be in running club...maybe i should ask my teacher if thats ok...

  7. im not exactly sure.. but i know in my ballet class the runner of our group was the non flexible one and she could never get her splits so maybe that has something to do with it? or maybe she just doesnt want u to tear a muscle or anything...if you could in a polite way ask her why you should no longer sprint then try that.
