ok so freshman year i played football in the fall; i loved it. i decided to run winter track to stay in shape; i love it too. i also ran spring track and had a great time. next year i played football but it sucked. i ran winter and spring track and i knew track is the sport for me. i've been thinking of not playing football next year and running XC. i run the 400, 400m hurdles and 800 in track and i also pole vault, triple+long jump. my pr in the 400 is 56 and the 800 is 2:13. do you think i should give up football and do xc? the track/xc coach said it would make me a strong for the 400/800. but, my friends said it would make me slow and be bad at my jumping events. what should i do?

  1. It would not at all be bad, you should really do it. That is basically what i do, minus the jumping but there are girls who do that too. It has nothing to do at all with your jumping events and it would reallly really help your 800 time. It should help your 400 time too but probably not as much. It  would not hurt it at all.

  2. You could be pretty good.  Especially if you do cross country, but honestly it could harm your jumps because you will lose some quick twitch muscle fibers a.k.a. speed, but I think you could be a great 400/800 guy if you do cross country.

  3. yes it will because if you do XC it will train your legs to run slower and therefore decrease your jumping. it might increase your 800 but not so much your 400. during fall just do sprinter workouts
