Is there a way to get them to stop sprouting or not sprout? I keep them in my pantry in the dark. As soon as I walk in the house I smell potatoes- in a bad way. It smells like musty growing potatoes and I hate it! Other than throwing them out every time I buy them, what can I do?

  1. I keep my potatoes in the crisper drawer in my fridge. When I buy a new bag I just clean my drawer and dump the new bag in there. I have never had a problem with doing this. I figure it is cold and dark and that is good enough. Try it...it really works!

  2. dont buy em

  3. You can put them in the fridge or throw them out if they start sprouting and buy new ones when you need them.

  4. To stop potatoes sprouting keep them in a dark cook place in bag and put an apple in with them. The gas from the apple will stop them sprouting

  5. Keep them in the fridge, the'll last lots longer!

  6. You can try the refrigerator, I used to keep mine in there until one day when my son in-law ate some mashed potatoes that I had made and he asked, "Who put sugar in the potatoes" He swore that storing them in the refrigerator made some of the startch turn to sugar. I'm no judge because I don't eat potato.

  7. I used to have the same problem. Now I keep my potatoes in my refrigerator. They last a lot longer and they don't smell anymore. :)
