Sptd.sys problem?

Hey guys i was using my cpu yasterday but today when i try to turn it on is sais theres a problem with your cpu and it takes me to that blue screen that sais reboot you computer and stuff and when i go into safe mode id sais press Esc to stop loading Sptd.sys but enven when i searched on my laptop for that file it found no results i have heard this may have been a problem whit my virtual drive (deamon Tools) but does anyone know how to fix it without installing my windows Xp all over again because then id lose my files becuse i cant get on my cpu to save them somewere. Thanks.

  1. There have been reports that Daemon Tools may cause this problem due to the use of this SPTD.sys driver. You may try to rename this file to another name and reboot (Don't forget to rename it back).

    The file is located in C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\sptd.sys. If you can't find it using search, you need to enable "showing hidden files."

    From Windows Explorer, do the following:

    1. On the Tools menu in Windows Explorer, click Folder Options.

    2. Click the View tab.

    3. Under Hidden files and folders, click Show hidden files and folders.

    Please report if this method works. If not, then you might have been attacked by viruses and we need other strategies.
