Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp has revealed he could be without the likes of Emmanuel Adebayor for the highly awaited north London derby at the Emirates.
The English manager made quite a few changes to his squad for the FA Cup fifth round clash against League One side Stevenage, but the Spurs were unable to secure a win. The result that Tottenham Hotspur secured after 90 minutes was a goal-less stalemate which will now require a replay.
After the fixture Redknapp went on record to claim that he had been forced to make certain changes because of injuries to key players. According to the Tottenham Hotspur manager http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luka-Modric-c22857, Emmanuel Adebayor and Benoit Assou-Ekotto had been missing due to various reasons.
Modric has apparently been suffering from flu and a temperature, because of which the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Croatia-c2879 international had to miss a game. Assou-Ekotto on the other hand underwent an operation on his groin and was thus unavailable for the FA Cup clash.
Last but not least, former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Emmanuel-Adebayor-c12526 is sidelined with a twisted knee. The Togolese forward sustained the injury in training on Friday and was therefore not available for selection for the FA Cup fixture against Stevenage.
Redknapp said while speaking to reporters:
“Benoit had a small operation at the start of the week so he wasn't available.
He should be fit but we will have to see with Adebayor. He did his knee on Friday morning. He twisted it. We thought he might have opened his ligament up but it's not too bad.”
He continued:
“Luka had an unbelievable temperature. He was really ill this week. That left us short. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ledley-King-c21859 was on the bench and he wasn't fit.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Niko-Kranjcar-c27926 had been rough all week as well. He only came in and trained (on Saturday).”
With the clash at Arsenal highly important for the Spurs and their chances of finishing in the top three at the end of the season, Redknapp will be looking forward to the return to Rafael van der Vaart and Sandro. The duo missed the match at Lamex Stadium due to minor injuries but could return for the trip to the Emirates Stadium.
