Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly entered the race to sign highly rated French defensive midfielder Yann M’Vila from Rennes.
M'Vila has been a highly sought after player and is considered one of the top defensive midfield players in Europe. Being 22 years old, M’Vila has already established himself as first choice DMF for the French national squad. The player is considered a top
talent and has attracted the interest of a number of top clubs.
He had been linked to North London’s Arsenal for quite some time now, with reports claiming that manager Arsene Wenger was a huge admirer of the player. Wenger apparently wanted to bring him to the club as an all out defensive midfield enforcer; a signing
that will allow http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-Song-c4804 to venture further up the pitch and satisfy his attacking tendencies.
After the Euro 2012 however, the link with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 slowly died down. M’Vila had been the subject of a spat with French coach Laurent Blanc and Arsene Wenger had reportedly lost interest in the player due to his behaviour and off-the-pitch attitude.
Tottenham have been looking to replace want away midfield star http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luka-Modric-c22857, who looks set to join Spanish giants Real Madrid. Although M’Vila is not exactly the type of player Modric is, it is understood that Tottenham are weighing up their options in midfield
and want to replace the Croatian with a player who can operate as a box-to-box midfielder.
Tottenham currently have a very crowded but strong midfield consisting of players such as Scott Parker, Sandro, Gylfi Sigurdsson, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Tom-Huddlestone-c35227. Modric’s departure would however leave a gaping hole in the centre, and perhaps Tottenham have
identified M’Vila as the player to fill that void.
Recently, Rennes revealed that they had received a very ‘concrete’ offer for their star player from an English club. Whether Tottenham are that club remains to be seen, as no names had been shared with the media.
Rennes chairman Frederic de Saint-Sernin claims that the offer for M’Vila might prove to be too good to refuse, and that the player could be heading to the Premier League before the transfer window shuts down. Rennes value the midfielder at £18million,
and at this price, a lot of clubs would be interested in landing him.
