Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy will fly to France to discuss modalities with Marseille ahead of a surprise transfer news to have emerged
Spurs, known for their frantic transfer activity in the last days of the transfer deadline, have yet again surfaced in the limelight, this time, targeting Loic Remy to boost the attacking line-up of the squad.
The proposed visit to Marseille by Levy could only surface after reports emerged that Spurs were not ready to meet the transfer fees set by Shakhtar Donetsk for Willian, another summer-long transfer target for the Pemier League team.
Loic, who was earlier linked with a move to Liverpool, is likely to have his deal concluded in the deliberations scheduled between the Spurs chairman and Marseille bosses. The North London giants have been tracking on the 25-year-old for quite a time, dating
back to the era of Harry Redknapp, the former manager of Spurs.
It is reported that the French forward had turned down an offer from Spurs earlier in January. But, the situation has changed dramatically ever since Luka Modric was sold to Real Madrid earlier. The mass influx of funds from the sale of Modric, reportedly
33 million pounds in cash, had paved the way for another hectic transfer window for Tottenham.
The financially constrained club have earlier sold Cesar Azpilicueta to Chelsea and are now all set to sell Loic Remy to Tottenham. The talented striker bears a price tag of 15 million pounds from the club. Details of the modalities and the concluded deal
will be made public once the interested parties meet.
Andre Villas-Boas has lately felt concerned about the scarce options in his attacking line-up. The club has earlier lost on Luka Modric, their star playmaker who was described by Harry Redknapp as the backbone of Spurs.
The prized scoop of Loic Remy to the squad would significantly reduce the trauma for Villas-Boas in terms of a back up in attacking options. Jermain Defoe and Emmanuel Adebayor are the only notable strikers in the current squad of the former Blues boss.
The former Lyon man is known for his efficient goal conversion rate and also holds the distinguishment for scoring the most number of headed goals last season compared to any other player in Europe.
