Tottenham Hotspur may be planning a move for AS Roma’s target man http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Marco-Borriello-c23672 after a move for Atletico Madrid striker Adrian Lopez was turned down by the Spanish club.
Reports in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Adrián-López-c3736.
Lopez had cooled down all transfer speculation linking him with a move to the Premier League by stating that he is happy and well settled at the Spanish club.
Villas Boas is in desperate need of strikers for the Spurs squad. Currently, Tottenham only have http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Emmanuel-Adebayor-c12526 failed due
to issues with his wages, with the Togolese striker himself saying that he would rather see out the last year of his contract at the Etihad stadium than move to White Hart Lane.
Villas-Boas has failed in his attempts to sign a striker thus far and is now focusing on Borriello. The 30-year old Italian has been linked with a move away from the Stadio Olimpico this summer, after he was made availible in the transfer market.
Borriello was unable to feature for Roma regularly under former coach Luis Enrique last season and was informed that he is not part of new coach Zdenek Zeman’s plans either.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roma-c31603’s sporting director Walter Sabatini spoke to Italian media about the striker and said:
“We have placed Borriello on the transfer list and he is well aware of it.”
Borriello has played for nine Serie A clubs during his career, with Juventus and AC Milan among the more prominent sides that he has featured for. Borriello scored 17 goals in the Serie A last season for Roma, but was later loaned out to Juventus for the
latter half of the season.
Villas Boas is need of experience up front as he prepares for the coming Premier League season. Spurs will however have to act fast if they want to sign the Italian striker since they face competition from German side Werder Bremen and Turkish giants Galatasaray
for the 30-year old’s signatures.
