Tottenham Hotspur have been in the pursuit of a striker ever since a move for Emmanuel Adebayor fell through. It is understood that the club is interested in Brazilian striker Leandro Damiao and have stepped up their hunt for him via a
£15 million bid.
Spurs manager Andre Villas-Boas has identified a host of strikers as he looks to complete his squad for the coming season. Tottenham have a number of important and talented players in almost every position, but seriously lack a first choice striker who can
lead the front line.
The club had tried signing last season’s on-loan striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Emmanuel-Adebayor-c12526 from Manchester City, with the striker himself keen on moving to White Hart Lane after enjoying a successful loan spell there. Things however hit a snag as Adebayor refused to take
a pay cut to finalise his move to North London, stating that he would rather see his contract out with City.
The North London club are seriously short staffed in the striker department, and have now targeted Brazilian striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Internacional-c39573 striker.
Suprs have reportedly been pursuing Damiao for the past 18 months and are expected to acquire him before the transfer window shuts down. The player is aware of Tottenham’s interest in him, and so are the Internacional board and management.
Club vice-president http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Davi-c10406 claimed last week that no official offers have been received by the club for the forward, but the club is aware that various parties are interested in him.
Recently, Paris Saint-Germain and Italian giants Juventus have also been linked with the Brazilian international, who is currently on duty with the Brazilian Olympic football team in London. Damiao had stated his desire to play in the Serie A, but Tottenham
are willing to launch an attractive bid in order to convince the player that his future lies in London.
Villas-Boas is keen on adding at least two strikers to the squad before the season starts, and would like to do so as early as possible. Reports in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 claim that the Portuguese is still working on bringing Adebayor to White Hart Lane, and wants Damiao
to partner the Togolese next season.
