Tottenham Hotspur are still waiting on a decision on star midfielder Luka Modric's future.
The midfielder has been stuck in transit as interested clubs have thus far failed to match Tottenham’s valuation.
Manager Andre Villas-Boas has said, that the club’s asking price for the want-away player has not been met by any of the suitors interested in him. If this remains the case, the manager expects the Croatian to return to train with the first-team squad as
early as possible.
Modric had been linked to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 for the past two seasons, with Villas-Boas himself leading the chase to sign the player while he was Chelsea boss last season.
Now, the likes of Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain and Spanish giants Real Madrid have emerged as potential suitors, with the latter tipped to be favourites for the player’s signatures.
This has to be the second successive season that Modric has asked to move away from White Hart Lane. The 26-year old was expected to move to Real Madrid last week, but the Spanish club was unable to meet Tottenham’s £40 million valuation.
The Croatian midfielder recently missed Tottenham’s tour of the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/United-States-c3034, and had refused to show up for training before that. He was charged by the club with two fines for unprofessional conduct, but has since apologized for his behaviour and returned
to the Spurs training facilities.
Speaking on the player’s current situation, Villas-Boas said:
"He's been training separately still, it's important for Luka to feel mentally ready to come back to first-team training. It's important because these boys (team-mates) are at a different level in terms of preparation, concentrating and commitment.”
"The player has to understand that the club can't do anything about other clubs' offers, we have a value and an interest that we have to defend and we are waiting for if the offer is not met to re-integrate the player."
He further added: "We'll try to solve it as soon as possible, obviously its the second time Luca has passed through this situation.”
Tottenham still wait on an acceptable offer, and would like then situation to be settled as early as possible.
