Sputtering lawnmower

change the sparkplug, cleaned the air filter and drained the gas tank but the mower still sputters. need help.

  1. The consensus here is it's the carburetor. I agree, however (sorry David) playing with it won't get the job done. The problem is the carburetor is partially clogged and must be dismantled, thoroughly cleaned, and reassembled. When I say thoroughly cleaned I mean just that! All the tiny internal gas passages must be cleaned and flowing for the engine to run properly.

    If you know someone who is well versed in cleaning carbs, ask him for pointers or offer to pay him to do it while you watch. (education is a good investment)  


  2. Sounds like a carburetor problem..Float not working right or needle and seat.Regardless its the carb..

  3. Its the carb for sure, take the carb apart and play with it to see if you can fix it

  4. Have you tried adjusting your idle? Just a bit at a time (1/4 turns). If your mower is older this sometimes will help. If it presist it's your carb.
