Spyware has been dected on my computer? Whats that?

I got this big banner across my screen so I did a cleaning and shutdown and restarted and it still came up. Is this just an advertising ploy or what?? I've never seen it before!

If they can put that ad on my computer they can put on a virus too ....right?

That correct.  Download both Adaware and Spybot.  Install, update and run both.  These are anti spyware/malware programs.  You should also be running a good anti virus program.  Following is a list of "free" software that works just fine.  Again, after you have installed the software, update it before you run it.  And only load one anti virus program.  More then one can cause conflicts.

Spyware. How annoying! I hate the things :P they collect personal information about you and various spywares do different things, but never do anything good, it's all negaitve. If i was you i'd reccomend downloading and running Spyware: Search and destroy. It did wonders my my cousins PC.

Well, they generally can't put stuff on your computer without you letting them.

Meaning that most people suffer from hacks, ID theft, etc because of something they did....

opening email attachments, running unknown files, going to questionable websites. These are the ways that most people get hosed.

It would be helpful to know exactly what it says. And when this happens.

I'd do a spyware scan.. Spybot Search & Destroy and AdAware are

two tools used for this.

BTW, Spyware is software put onto someones system without their

permission to gather information about them. Password, Surfing Habits
