  2. it hides in the system restore as well as other places.

this is how i got rid of it...

just follow it as close as you can for vista..

click on tools > delete browsing history > delete all

    > check the box, also delete files and settings stored by

    add-on's >yes.

    ......................................... next" ,..........................................

start > all programs > pc help and tools > system restore

    > system restore settings > system restore > check the box turn off system restore on all drives > ok

then go here and do scan.

    http://www.bitdefender.com/scan8/ie.html

then go here and do Full Service Scan

    http://onecare.live.com/site/en-au/defau...

then turn the system restore back to on...

then create a new restore point as your pc will now be clean.

then turn off system restore again as it will erase the last infected restore file..

reboot and then turn the system restore back to on...

and hey presto a clean machine...

  3. Like most people, you need to understand the difference between spyware and a virus. They are NOT the same thing.

For spyware, use either Spybot Search and Destroy or SpywareBlaster. Both are excellent and free - and will help prevent future infestations.

If you have a virus, you need something stronger. Try AVG or Avast. They have free versions and are also excellent programs.

Some viruses are too tough for a general anti-virus program and you'll have to find a specific removal tool. But run these programs first. The chances are good they will take care of your problem.

  4. What Fred Flintstone said is what I would tell you.

  5. spyware, virus infection, trojans are all different and require different procedures to stop them.

in your case, you are asking for help with spyware and saying that it's a virus.

in the case of a virus infection:

    VIRUS/TROJAN REMOVAL

1st thing would be to close/turn off System Restore where critters hide out till you  Restore  the virus.

    start,all programs,system tools,system restore

settings, turn off system restore.this deletes all prior restore points and deletes anything hiding there.

    start--all programs--accessories--system tools--system restore

    settings--drive (c)--setting

check the OFF box to clear all previous restore points

    REMEMBER TO RETURN AND:

A] TURN SYSTEM RESTORE BACK ON

    B] CREATE A NEW,CLEAN RESTORE POINT

next, download and install use Avast anti virus, run it  and remove virus that way

Free antivirus - avast ! 4 Home Edition Download -

open internet options from control panel and delete:

    cookies

    temp files

    history

there are TWO Temp file folders,1 that you empty from internet options, but there is a SECOND Temp file folder buried in the Windows folder

    start--my computer--windows--temp

    click view--click select all--

    press delect key on keyboard

    delete files from prefetch folder:

    start,my computer,disk drive (c),windows,prefetch

    click view
