Sqeaking noise coming from my '96 F-Body?

I have a '96 camaro and the other day i'm driving down the road and I start hearing this squeaking noise coming from the right rear of the vehicle. It doesn't get any louder the faster I drive or the slower. I checked the spare tire and inside the trunk and didn't find anything. I noticed though that if I have my music turned up loud enough the the bass will make the noise squeak. Its really strange. I went over a bad bump the other day and the noise stopped for a short time, then a couple minutes later started right up again. Any ideas, its driving me crazy!!

  1. my best bet would be the brakes pull off your wheel and see if your squakers are going they are little meatal things that rub against your rotors telling you you need new brakes soon

  2. I would have the dealer or a local repair shop put you camaro on a hoist and inspect the rear shock upper rubber mounts for wear and the rear lower control arms for unusually wear.Good chance your going to find the noise there.Best of luck.

  3. I would check the brakes.  But it sounds more like the upper strut mount bearings are wearing out.  I would have them checked for wear.  It's a common problem in most GM cars.  Often it makes light squeaks sometimes you seem to hit a bump and it disappears but comes back a little bit later.

  4. It sounds to me like it is your body spacers. (the spacers in between body and frame)

Either the bolt is loose, or you have a crack in the spacer.
