Question:

Square Envelope Postage Advice?

I'm am trying to send out wedding invitations this week, but I have been having trouble getting a consensus on how much postage I should use. I have been to three postoffices so far, but I keep getting different answers. I am trying to mail a 6 1/2 by 6 1/2 square envelope. The envelope is flat and weighs about an ounce.

I know that standard mail can be a max of 6 1/8 inch tall, so there will be a surcharge for me to send this. I have been told the postage should be $.43 + $.20 surcharge for a total of $.63. Others said that it would be a large envelope rate of $.83. Another postoffice said that since it was over 6 1/8 inch tall and square that the postage would be $1.17 for a small package.

Anyone have any experience with mailing a square envelope, or advice on what postage to use? There is a big difference between $1.17 and $.62 when your mailing 150 letters.
