I'm going to put wallpaper on my bathroom walls.. I know nothing about feet or footage or anything lol. Im guessing my walls are about 8 ft high maybe more? Its a newer mobile home so, whatever is average.

I'm looking at prices, and one roll of wall paper comes with 56 square feet of paper. How many rolls would I need for one wall that is 8-9 feet tall and maybe 9-11 feet long?

Thank you!

  1. If the wall paper has a pattern you will loose sqare footage when you match the pattern from strip to strip.   The square footage is the height x the width.  If your wall is 9 foot tall by 11 foot long you need about 99 square feet of wall paper.

Buy extra - return the unopened rolls you dont use.

  2. Wallpaper is usually sold by the double roll but priced by the single roll, so remember that when you are pricing the paper.  Here is a link to an online form that calculates for you how much you need: http://www.interiormall.com/cat/wall/mwa...

  3. all your answers so far are too complicated ..here in the uk if the walls are 8 feet tall and there is no pattern repeat ..you will get four drops per roll at 21inches wide ..if pattern allow 3 drops ..this covers 63 inches ..so two rolls is plenty

  4. You need to take the pattern repeat into account.  If the wall is 8', but the pattern repeat is 20", you will lose 20" with each strip of paper you hang.  That makes each cut piece closer to 10' long.  A roll of paper is generally 21-24" wide.  Therefore, you will get 5 pieces out of a double roll.  This will cover 10 running feet of wall.  You can adjust the numbers depending on the pattern.  It's always better to order more than you will think you need and return rolls you haven't used.  That way you will make sure that you don't have to stop, and the paper will all be from the same dye lot.  Hope this helps.

  5. Multiply the height by the length of the wall and that gives you the square feet.  For instance, if the wall is 8 ft. and the length 10 ft., you need 80 square ft. of wall paper (excluding doors and windows.

  6. Standard wall height is 8 feet. Figure a conservative estimate of 11 feet long. That's 8x11=88 square feet. For overage, figure another 10 percent. That's about 97 square feet. So, get two rolls of the paper. It will be plenty.
