Square head golf clubs?

Anyone have any comments on these? I just bought a set and am waiting for them to be delivered. I am a new golfer so I haven't had any time to develop bad swing habits yet so I am hoping these clubs will help me hit more straight.

  1. I'm also a new golfer and i also have square heads they arent bad its not the club its the golfer so get comfortable with them and get lessons the clubs will work just fine

  2. WEll they will hit it straighter, but if you want it straighter there are swing flaws to correct too. See a pro. It will help.

  3. Technologically, a square head does provide more forgiveness than a regular round head because more weights are put in at the back corners of the club to prevent any twisting and to promote higher ball flight.

I've tried both types of club head from Nike Sumo and I've become a firm believer that a square head is a lot more forgiving than a round head.  I "tried" to hate the shape, but I just couldn't miss.  :-)

As long as you can get past the shape of this non-conventional shape, I definitely recommend a square driver to all beginners simply because you will...

    1) hit your driver straight more consistently.

    2) gain confidence to become a better golfer (or to continue to play).

    3) progressively get better.

One thing to remember though....  If you're a beginner and haven't even developed any bad habits, you are already in a better shape than most amatuer golfers.  I strongly recommend you getting some basic lessons from a teaching pro and learn how to swing properly because even the world's most forgiving driver can do so much.

    Good luck!

  4. square head drivers are easier to hit straight, but dont hit as far as standard drivers.  And that club will not give you good swing habits, you still need to practice no matter what kind of clubs you have.

  5. It cant hurt if your a new golfer.  Take some lessons and talk to your golf pro.  Get good advise and practice, practice, practice!

  6. these clubs will be more forgiving since there is more mass to the outsides of the club head, which prevents the head from twisting during off center hits. ive never hit these before so i dont know how much of a difference it makes but it should help some. But on the other hand if you use more forgiving club you will likely play better even if you arent making good contact, which could cause you to develop bad habits. But as much as people want to believe, all this new technology cant make a bad golfer good although it does help.

  7. Manufacturers can say whatever they want about there clubs and what benefit they will be to the golfer, but what it comes down to is how they look to you and feel when you swing them.

If you are new to golf and bought a club with such a new design, then you are probably better off that you have not used another design.  Just keep in mind that people have spent a lot of money from year to year on new clubs to increase distance and accuracy, but the real issue is swing mechanics and strength.  You can build golf muscles by swinging a heavier weighted club as well as getting instruction to insure that you learn good habits.  Then as you get older and your body changes, continue to get instruction to stay on the right track with your swing.

Golf is a great game as long as you play with integrity and have fun while doing it.
