Squash Update: Legend Jansher Khan vows to help Pakistan dominate again

Jansher Khan of Pakistan accepted an offer from the Pakistan Squash Federation to become the national coach and stated that he was more than willing to help Pakistan regain its glory by dominating the sport of Squash once again.
"We are still better than any country in the world when it comes to squash talent. We just need to put in the hard work systematically to ensure that Pakistan squash regains its status as the best in the world,"
stressed Khan.
Pakistan has produced brilliant players such as Jahangir Khan, Hashim Khan and Jansher Khan. However, after Jansher retracted from the sport in the 90's, none of the Pakistani professionals have proved able enough to make it to
the top ten World rankings.
Khan met with Air Chief Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman and PSF's senior vice president, Syed Razi Nawab at the Air headquarters in Islamabad. Jansher stated that the meeting was very positive apart from saying that the Air Chief asked
him to work with the PSF as the head coach and an advisor. Furthermore, the former professional accepted the offer and he is keen on helping Pakistan Squash get back on track.
Jansher went on to add that they will be concentrating on grassroots as nobody has worked at that level in the past. Khan also exclaimed that professionals from Australia, England and Egypt are right on top at the moment due to
the solid system at the grassroot level in the countries. In addition, Jansher stated that the PSF will initiate a comprehensive training program to train players according to their age groups.
"We have not won that title since 1986," said Jansher, who was the last Pakistani to win the world junior crown almost 24 years ago.
"My first big target is to help Pakistan regain the world junior crown both in the team and individual events. We want to take all our squash legends on board," said Khan.
In addition, Jansher exclaimed that Squash in Pakistan has really suffered over the years and it is only a combined effort that will make a difference and help revive the sport. According to the former professional, the chief of
PSF promised huge incentives for any of the Pakistani players who make it through to the top 5 World rankings.
