  1. If your sound is distorted a ringing string could be the culprit. I don't know what riff your doing but if you can, try to mute the string with the tips of your fingers when you play the next note. It could also be that you don't pick through the string fast enough and the pick is making a noise on the string. Try to use only the very tip of the pick so it does not get stuck on the string.

  2. Squeaking? The strings are supposed to ring when you pick them, so it's not what you're doing. I'm not sure about the "squeaking."

  3. So, the string is ringing, and then you place the pick on it, and it squeals.  If you are using distortion, your pick might be landing on a harmonic, in which case you can try picking at a slightly different point on the string (like 1 centimeter closer to the bridge).  Or, probably just pick faster or don't 'prepare' the pick so early in the riff.  My other thought is that if you are using nylon picks, they tend to wear down to a point where they have this annoying scraping against the string.  Try a brand new pick and see if it is still there.
