Question:

Squeaky chair and w-40. what part of chair should i spray it on ?

i don't want to run out of spray.

when i lean back it starts squeaking other times it is ok.

  1. Oil the pivots where the backrest moves.


  2. tur chair upside-down, spray all moving parts, work back and forth until squeak stops. use the small tube that comes with the can to eliminate a lot of overspray. or take some motor oil and a tooth pick , dip the toothpick and put a drop of oil at each moving part- pivot point or sliding surface.

  3. wd 40 is good stuff, however I wouldn't use it for a "long term' lubrication solution..wd 40 was developed on the 40th try to displace water  this is how it got it's name.wd means water displacement and it was perfected on the 40th attempt to invent it.. It displaces water under distributors etc and does lubricate temporarily..but soon evaporates..I use a silicone spray on any items i want "long term" lubrication..also wd 40 will eat at some plastics such as on this chair...here is some info..
