  1. I suggest you check out the 2 comparisons by reading 'WHAT MOUNTAIN BIKE ' -Jan. 2008 issue (  Brit's best mt. bike rag!)----I read it and their opinion is definitely the BEST.

  2. Sram Sram Sram......so as far as quality on road bikes shimano Dura Ace is all plastic and cheap metal...Sram force has carbon levers and titanium shifters and an ingenious double tap mechanism which is more trust worthy and feels way better than shimano...

for mountain I would consider an x.o. or 9 package I ride X.0. on one bike and x.9. on my other....The shifters are really ergonomic and you know when it shifts...I really like the click I feel on the trigger shift and the gripshift is incredible too...you never miss a shift.

Also the great thing about sram is that on all of the bikes I have installed it on it comes RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX READY TO GO!!! no fiddling around the only thing that usually needs to be adjusted is cable tension on the derailers and of course the brakes.

I have ridden Shimano and Sram...and all I can say is that shimano is way overpriced and really only popular because its been around for a while and it is a huge company that makes cycling fishing and even snow things...Sram is way more specialized...bad pun...they only make cycling things and are way more inventive then shimano.

    Plus Sram looks way better!

...all of you that disagree with the out of the box thing......actually put a set on your bike...do you know how?

Huh, what? I think you're talking rubbish. So SRAM parts come ready-made completely bespoke to your bike setup? Stop talking rubbish.

Compare the price of a Dura-Ace groupset to SRAM Red, lol. For what? A few grams and a pretty shifter? There's a reason why Shimano has been around for so long.
