Sreesanth out of action for 5 months owing to toe injury – Cricket News Update
Indian medium-pacer, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/S-Sreesanth-c2398, is expected to be unavailable for up to five months as he undergoes surgery for his injured toes, which have had him out of action since last year.
“Got to get 2 surgery (on both my toes) will be out of the game for 5 months..hopefully will try to get back soon.. Take care..thanks a lot,” the 29-year-old tweeted on Wednesday.
Sreesanth made his international debut in October 2005, in an ODI against Sri Lanka at Nagpur, during which he claimed 2 for 39. His career currently spans 27 Tests (with 87 wickets to his name), and 53 ODIs (during which he has claimed 75 scalps).
He last played for India during the Test series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kumar-Shri-Ranjitsinhji-c71870 season. The setback saw the right-armer
ruled out of participation in the trophy after playing just one match for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kerala-c803 (during which he claimed 1 for 119) on November 3.
The injury ruled him out of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750’s 4-match Test series (which they went on to lose in a humiliating 4-0 whitewash), and he initially opted for ayurvedic treatment over surgery.
“I was advised surgery but didn't go for it because the last time I did ayurvedic treatment, for a labrum tear on my shoulder, it really helped and I never had to go for surgery. I have consulted the same doctor. The muscles get stronger with physiotherapy,”
he had explained.
The fast bowler had hoped to be fit in time for the tri-series between http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 in February this year, but the injury also prevented him from participation in that particular tournament.
Sreesanth was part of the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rajasthan-c837 Royals line-up for the current ongoing Indian Premier League season 5, and while he underwent rehabilitation at the Nation Cricket Academy [NCA] in Bangalore last month, with team management expecting him to be fit to
join the squad after a week, the recent decision to undergo surgery means the Royals, after losing http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kevon-Cooper-c71194 owing to injury this season, will also have to do without Sreesanth.
