Indian fast bowler Shanthakumaran Sreesanth, who is recovering from a toe injury, has targeted December and January's home series against England for his return to the national setup.
The 29-year-old http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kerala-c803 seamer, who was part of the 2011 world cup winning squad, has not donned Indian colours since August last year, and underwent a surgery on his injured toe earlier this year. The operation, and subsequent recovery period, ruled him
out of the Sri Lanka tour as well as the ongoing home series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754.
The right-arm medium pacer is also out of reckoning for next month’s http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758. Speaking to media reporters, the seamer said that he was well on course to recovery, and vowed to come back stronger.
“I am on the recovery path. I expect myself to be in contention for the Test and ODI teams against England,” Sreesanth told media on the sidelines of an event in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MS-Dhoni-c2028 and other members of Indian
cricket team.
“I am using this time to make sure I come back really stronger and I will,” he added further.
The right-armer is specifically targeting the second One Day International of the England itinerary, scheduled to be played under lights in his hometown Kerala, on January 15.
"I have started running now. I am in National Cricket Academy (NCA). Hopefully, in three more months I should be fit to play first class and I am looking at, hopefully, getting back to the selection process by December end," said the 29-year-old who has
not played competitive cricket since November 2011.
The Kerala seamer said that he has plenty of cricket left in him, claiming that he could play at the top level for at least another five to six years.
Sreesanth made his international debut with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 in October 2005 and has do date played 27 Tests and 53 One Day Internationals, claiming 87 and 75 wickets in each format respectively. He has also played 10 T20 Internationals for his country and has seven
wickets in his name.
Apart from Team India, the seam bowler has played for Kerala, and IPL teams Kochi Tuskers Kerala, Kings XI http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rajasthan-c837 Royals.
