Sri Krishna Priya K. secured her berth in main round of Junior National Badminton Championship
India’s interested shuttler Sri Krishna Priya K. powered her way into Women’s Singles U19 main round after showing exit to her higher ranked team-mate Niranjana A. J. in qualifying round battle at 37th Junior National Badminton Championship-2012
in India, on Sunday, November 11.
The impressive Priya, who remained impressive in all of her fights in qualifying round, showed tremendous performance against the eighth seeded Niranjana and easily registered her supremacy in the arena in a dictating fashion.
Priya entered into the tournament as an un-seeded player but she put up staggering show and proved her mettle against her higher ranked opponent by finishing up the clash in straight games with a wonderful margin.
On the other hand, the eighth seeded Niranjana worked really hard against her lower ranked country-mate but failed to stay positive when it mattered most and eventually crashed out without proving her elevated skills.
In the starting set, the confident Priya delivered a spectacular performance as she did not let her opponent to take charge of the game and stayed in strong position.
The lofty Priya showed that she has achieved top quality skills as she did not lose her grip over the pace of rallies and remained successful in pushing her rival on back foot until the end of opening half.
After the one-minute break, the incredible Priya continued her positive and aggressive show without letting Niranjana to take charge of rallies.
In the ending points, Priya was fully focused on court and she did not face any considerable problem in notching the opening game with a 21-18 score on the board.
In the second set, Niranjana worked hard but could not create pressure on her lower ranked opponent who was on a different level.
Until the one-minute break, the impressive Priya progressed with an incredible pace and took a reasonable lead until the end of first half.
After the interval, Priya stayed focused and maintained the difference all the way to end up the set with a 21-16 score on the board.
The in-form Priya won this qualifying round clash in just 25 minutes with a convincing difference of 21-18 and 21-16.
