and broken down the entire batting line-up of the rivals in just 85 overs.
Winning the toss, Sri Lanka Board XI elected to bat first. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Hettige-Don-Rumesh-Lahiru-Thirimanne-c63124 opened the innings for their side.
The start was excellent as both the openers played good shots and sterling boundaries to build up a long and strong partnership of 82 runs in the 27.5 overs.
Thirimanne was caught behind when he misjudged a delivery from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Trent-Copeland-c2709. He scored 32 off 80 balls with the help of 5 fours.
The one-down batsman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/LD-Chandimal-c1831, also looked to be in good form as he took a convincing start to his innings. However, Paranavitana could not accompany him for long and lost his wicket when, unfortunately, he was just one run away from his fifty.
He played 109 balls with the help of 9 boundaries.
Bhanuka Rajapaksa was the next batsman. He and Chandimal played very well as partners and added 72 runs to their team's innings. Chandimal scored 59 from 90 balls including 11 fours and a six while Rajapaksa made 21 runs.
The middle-order of the Lankan’s batting line-up totally flopped and none of the three preceding batsmen could reach double figures. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Jayan-Kaushal-Silva-c66641, the wicketkeeper, fell on duck.
The lower-order displayed immense resistance against the furious Australian bowlers. Kosala Kulasekara and Thisara Perera scored 18 and 36 respectivley while Dhammika Prasad added 20 runs to the innings.
Thus, the entire batting line-up of Sri Lanka Board XI fell at the mediocre total of 258 runs off 85 overs. Their run rate had been 3.03 per over.
In the bowling department of Australians, Copeland was the top wicket taker who grabbed 5-wicket haul for just 47 runs. Along with him, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Nathan-Michael-Lyon-c78822 bowled one player.
