Ruhuna marked its second win on the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 Cricket Inter Provincial Twenty20 Tournament after defeating Combined Provinces in the recent bout at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Tuesday, July 24, 2011. Thanks to its much impressive bowling line-up,
Ruhuna earned the triumph after forcing the opponent to fall short of the chase with 84 runs securing all of its wickets.
The bout took to the field after the Ruhuna skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KMDN-Kulasekara-c1802 and Ajantha
Mendis.
Ruhuna’s batsmen kicked off with the day taking on some aggressive batting in the early moments of the game, earning quick runs for the side.
However, during the 5th over of the innings, the skipper exited the crease after being caught out off Dilhara Lokuhettige’s delivery. Udawatte managed to post 21 runs for his side including 2 boundaries and a single out of the park.
With the procession entering the second quarter of the innings, Jayasuriya followed as the second wicket for the bowling side after the batsman made his return to the pavilion, much disappointed after falling just 6 runs short of his half ton.
A couple more overs into the session, the Combined Provinces bowlers offered another swift blow at the batting order securing two successive wickets in the 10th and 11th overs of the game.
The bout, now left at the disposal of the Ruhuna middle order; the players struggled to keep the pace, failing to retain their stumps in the closing moments of the innings. Till the 18th over, the batting side suffered a few more wickets bringing
its total loss to 9 wickets.
With tail enders taking charge of the crease, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/UWMBCA-Welegedara-c2735 wrapped up the batting session, posting a modest total of 174 runs.
In response, the Combined Provinces batting session took off with a troubling start after the team lost its first wicket as opener http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sachith-Shanaka-Pathirana-c87810 (13) made his return in the 3rd over of the day.
The manner continued for the batting side as more trouble hit the team in the 6th and 7th overs losing three more quick wickets.
By now, the troubled Combined Provinces team had lost 4 successive wickets after securing 50 runs in 6.3 overs.  
With the opening of the 9th over, Jayasuriya offered another blow to the batting side securing 5th wicket for Ruhuna.
Eventually, through a dominant resistance from the bowlers, the Ruhuna bowlers continued steamrolling the batting line up, bringing an end to the squad in the 12th over.
