Sri Lanka Ports Authority Cricket Club v Colts Cricket Club – Premier Limited Over Tournament, 2012/13 (Group A) – Match Update – SLPACC secures 5-wicket win
A concentrated batting performance proved to be the strength of the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 Ports Authority Cricket Club as they went on to secure a 5-wicket win over the Colts Cricket Club in their Group A match during the ongoing Premier Limited Over Tournament, played
on December 30 at the Nondescripts Cricket Club Ground in Colombo.
The Colts opted to bat first after winning the toss, but the SLPACC’s http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Muthumudalige-Pushpakumara-c78141 (7-0-22-2) and Sanitha de Mel (5-0-27-2) ensured that the opposition was kept down to a manageable total.
Most of the Colts’ top and middle order remained mediocre and failed to contribute anything substantial. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Athege-Roshen-Shivanka-Silva-c46605 (0) were all insipid, and failed to set up a solid base for the
team to build upon.
However, coming in at number five and six respectively, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Merennage-Akshu-Prihan-Fernando-c75633 (who top-scored for the team with 67) managed to revive the team’s innings to some extent with a 72-run partnership for the fifth wicket. Their combined efforts
got the team from 59 to 131, after which Warnapura was taken out of the game by Pushpakumara.
Chathuranga Kumara (11) and Fernando followed soon after, sent packing by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sajeewa-Weerakoon-c87976 (1*) at the crease, the Colts
CC posted a final total of 213.
The SLPACC, however, executed a successful chase owing to a handful of solid performances, despite the efforts of the Colts’ Akila Dananjaya (8-0-41-2).
Opener http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Balapuwaduge-Manukulasuriya-Thiwantha-Tharindu-Mendis-c47202 drove
the remainder of the innings forward with an unbeaten 30.
Shanuka Dissanayake chipped in with 34 runs, and following his departure, Tharindu Mendis teamed up with Pushpakumara (2). Within 48 overs, the SLPACC eventually managed to work their way up to 214, with 5 wickets and 17 balls remaining.
