Sri Lanka Premier League vying for a global reach - Cricket News Update
Sri Lanka Premier League aims to captivate the global audience once the much trumpeted mega event will commence from August 10 and according to one organizer, the tournament will present a golden chance to put the Island nation on the world stage.

"This is really Sri Lanka's time to bask in glory and we believe the world really needs to take notice of this beautiful island nation," Bhammer was speaking to Reuters.
The SLPL was originally slated for a 2011 debut, but opposition from Board of Control for Cricket in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 Cricket (SLC) put the mega-event in serious jeopardy, which resulted in its postponement to 2012.
To put his idea forward, Bhammer revealed that the tournament has made a deal with YouTube for live streaming, making the event accessible to a wider audience.
"We've also partnered with YouTube on the SLPL website and on a YouTube channel so that people have got access to watch the tournament even if they haven't got access to television platforms that show cricket.”
"We are very excited," Bhammer added. "We are going to see the culmination and fruition of two years of hard work to deliver a world-class tournament in Sri Lanka," the CEO further added.
The tournament will be the country’s first official T20 league and underwent major structural changes early in the year. Instead of including provincial teams, the competition will feature seven franchises, representing their respective regions.
Similar to the DLF Indian Premier League, the SLPL will also be in partnership with the MCC Spirit of Cricket initiative. Bhammer believes Sri Lankan league will only compliment the more established rivals Big Bash League (BBL) in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 and IPL in India.
