The sports minister of Sri Lanka, Mahindananda Aluthgamage, has asked the national cricket team to improve communication between the players, management and the selectors, so as to break the losing streak.
Sri Lanka have not won a series, home and away, since the 2011 http://www.senore.com/Cricket/United-Arab-Emirates-c3033.
The Islanders are next scheduled to tour the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 series next month.
Aluthgamage said that after meeting with the parties, he had reached a conclusion that lack of communication was the main problem in the side.
"It was revealed that the main reason why the national cricket team had failed to perform was due to miscommunication between the team, the selectors and the coaches," said the Sri Lankan sports ministry in a statement on Wednesday.
"It was discussed in detail the importance and the necessity for captain Tillakaratne Dilshan to maintain sound communications with the selection committee and coach (http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Geoffrey-Robert-Marsh-c58893)," the statement added further.
The interim committee of Sri Lanka, had replaced former skipper Kumar Sangakkara with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/TM-Dilshan-c2691 in May earlier this year. Since then, the Islanders have been struggling for a series win.
Under Dilshan’s captaincy, the Lankans toured http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 in three Tests and five One Day Internationals losing
the series 1-0 and 3-2 respectively.
Recently http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 humiliated them 1-0 in the three Test before going on to win five-ODI series 4-1. The only T20 of the neutral venue series was also won by the five wickets.
There are speculations of tensions prevailing in the side since the resignation of captain http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DPMD-Jayawardene-c1397 after World Cup.
Sri Lanka kick off their six-week tour of Rainbow nation with a three-day tour game in Benoni from December 9. The tour game will be followed by two Tests and a five-match ODI series.
