Sri Lanka Women v http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 - 1st ODI - Sri Lanka innings – Live Score and Update
Sri Lanka Women 164/9 (50 ov) - Sri Lanka Women chose to bat
In the opening match of the ODI series between hosts Sri Lanka Women and tourists West Indies, the home side after choosing to bat first managed to post a meagre score to 164 for the loss of nine wickets in 50 overs in the match which is being played at
Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium.
Sri Lankan openers PRCS Kumarihami and PM Weerakkody gave their side a stand of 31 runs before the Windies made inroads by grabbing the wicket of Kumarihami, who fell after smacking 16 runs off 36 deliveries.
Then with 39 runs on the board, the batting side lost their second wicket with the departure of Weerakkody, who fell after hitting 13 runs off her bat.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Dawid-Malan-c1344 Jayangani and HMD Rasangika then led their side towards 85 runs before this partnership also met its end on the wicket of the latter, who fell after she had scored 28 runs.
Jayangani was then joined by HASD Siriwardene and while the Sri Lankans were under tremendous pressure, these two still managed to take their side towards 105 runs before suffering the demise of their fourth wicket with Siriwardene finding her way back to
the pavilion after scoring only seven runs.
Things took a turn for the worse when with 107 runs on the board; the Sri Lankans lost the services of Jayangani, who succumbed on a run out after having scored 27 runs.
SK Dolawatte and LE Kaushalya were disappointing as the latter fell after scoring only two runs, followed by the wicket of CR Seneviratna (1) and then Dolawatte for eight.
With the middle-order ripped to bits and pieces for 127 on the board, SS Weerakkody and MADD Surangika launched a fantastic resistance against the fielding side, taking the score to 161 before the demise of Weerakkody, who perished after smacking a courageous
knock of 21 runs.
MADD Surangika stayed unbeaten for 14 alongside I Ranaweera for two as the Lankans ended their innings. West Indies now need to bat with some confidence without taking too many risks in order to reach the required target.
