Sri Lanka announce squad for T20 series against Australia – Cricket News update
Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), on Saturday, announced its 16-member squad for the Twenty20 leg of Australia's tour to Pearl Island, starting on August 6, 2011.
Prolific all-rounder, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AD-Mathews-c913 will be the vice captain.
Sri Lanka will play Australia in all the three formats of game during the seven-week long tour. The tour would start on August 6 with a Twenty20 International at the newly-built Pallakele International Stadium in the central town of Kandy. The second and
the last T20 game will also be played at the same venue on August 8.
The T20 series will be followed by a five-match One Day International series. The opening game of the ODI series will also be hosted by the Pallakele International Stadium. The next two One Day Internationals would be staged at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International
Cricket Stadium in Hambantota while the fourth and fifth ODIs will be played at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
The itinerary also includes a three-match Test series, starting from August 31, at Galle International Stadium, the venue where legendary Lankan spin wizard, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/M-Muralitharan-c1864, played his swansong last summer.
The second Test will be hosted by Pallakele International Stadium from September 8 to 12; whereas, the third and the last Test between the two sides will be played at the Sinhalese Sports Club Ground, Colombo between September 16 and 20.
Australia, during their 45-day long tour of the pearl island, will also play a three-day warm-up game against the President XIs, between August 25 and 27.
