Sri Lanka in control after putting West Indies in to bat
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 were bowled-out for 203 runs after they were put into bat by Sri Lanka in the second One Day International (ODI) of the three-match series. The match is being played at Colombo.
Kumar Sangakkara won the toss and elected to field first. The ball was moving a lot off the wicket and it also swung in the air for the Sri Lankan pacers. The West Indian innings got off to a steady start but the centurion from the first match, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Adrian-Barath-c42094
wasn’t able to capitalise on the start he got today. He was out after scoring 12 runs off 30 balls in the 10th over.
Two balls later, Chris Gayle became the victim of legendary off-spinner, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Muttiah-Muralitharan-c78157 off the very first ball of his spell in the day. Gayle was dismissed after scoring 28 off 30 balls. Veteran batsman Ramnaresh Sarwan and Darren Bravo then steadied
the innings and played risk-free cricket until Sarwan was run-out in the 27th over, after scoring 21 runs off 48 balls. The visitors were in trouble with three batsmen out inside 100 runs.
The fall of Sarwan’s wicket brought Dwayne Bravo to the crease and both the Bravos tried to rescue their team. However, they were both dismissed after scoring 39 runs each, which saw the team plunge deeper into trouble. Wicketkeeper batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Carlton-Baugh-c49264
tried to take the team to a respectable total but he didn’t get support from the other end as wickets kept on falling regularly. The visitors were all-out for 203 in their 50 overs, as Baugh remained unbeaten on 28 off 38 balls.
The pick of the bowlers for the hosts was Lasith Malinga. He took three wickets for just 30 runs. Malinga was also the leading wicket-taker for his team in the first ODI, taking three wickets on that occasion as well. Other bowlers who caused problems for
the Windies were Nuwan Kulasekara and Muralitharan. Both bowlers had identical figures of two for 42 in their spell of 10 overs each.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 will be hoping that the rain stays away from this match, so that they can get some batting practice ahead of the World Cup. There are showers expected in the day but there wasn’t any rain during the first innings. The first match of the series
was disappointing for the hosts as they fielded for 50 overs and weren’t able to bat due to rain.
