sent packing early, having scored just 12 runs on 42 balls.
Darren Bravo was the top scorer with 39 runs on just 64 balls before losing his wicket to Lasith Malinga. The wall of the Caribbean side, Ramnaresh Sarwan was run out by Rangana Herath for just 21 runs.
It seems that the West Indian batsmen were finding it hard to concentrate in the middle, losing wickets at regular intervals as
Dwayne Bravo and Kieron Pollard were both clean bowled by Malinga. The West Indian Darren Sammy was only able to score four runs, only to get run out by Mahela Jayawardene.
Batsman Nikita Miller was dismissed by Muralitharan without opening his account as his partner Ravi Rampaul scored just one run before being clean bowled by Malinga. The last man Kamer Roach was dismissed
by Kulasekara on nine runs. In the end, the West Indies managed to score a total of just 203 for the Sri Lankans to chase.
The decision to put the West Indian team in to bat first has paid off for the Sri Lankans. The bowlers managed to contain the West Indian batsmen by not allowing for any solid partnerships to develop.
Exciting Sri Lankan bowler Malinga managed to take the wickets of Darren Bravo, Pollard and Rampaul. Spinner Muralitharan dismissed the always dangerous opener Gayle and Miller. Bowlers Herath and Kulasekara
each took one wicket.
Sri Lanka need 204 runs to win the match and will have to be diligent to ensure that they get a solid start to their innings.
