Sri Lankan Captain, Tillakaratne Dilshan, has said that despite the team has been without a Test win lately, but, they have always performed well under the format and now needs to remain patient before they take on http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 in the upcoming 3-match Test series,
which kicks off on October 18, 2011, in UAE.
Skipper Dilshan also comprehended that the team holds a weakened line-up of bowlers, especially since the departure of bowling legends such as http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Lions-c808 to their last Test win against
the Indian tourists in Galle, in July 2010.
Unfortunately for the hosts, the series concluded in a stalemate after http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 crawled onto securing a win on the 3rd match of the stint, with the second fixture resulting in a draw.
As for the team’s recent performance for 2011, Sri Lanka has so far had two Test outings against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 – both of which resulted in consecutive defeats for the Lankans.
However, Dilshan feels that during the team’s recent defeated home Test series against Australia, the Lankans did manage to post an imposing performance against the tourists but with odds turning against the hosts, failed to dominate the Aussies.
“If you take the last series against Australia, we lost one Test that could have gone either way. I thought we played well in the remaining two Tests,” admitted Dilshan.
“Both our defeats in Test cricket came against good teams. I believe we need to be patient rather than take harsh decisions. Both our defeats in Test cricket came against good teams,” he added.
As for Sri Lanka’s upcoming assignment against Pakistan in UAE, Dilshan has advised his team to remain patient and that the side will now be featuring new bowlers who need time to develop.
On the other hand, Pakistan’s Skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Misbah-ul-Haq-c1972 also admitted that though the Lankan bowling line-up might be weakened, but they still stand potentially dangerous.
“No doubt Sri Lanka's bowling has been weakened but they remain a formidable side and it would be foolish on our part to underestimate them at any time in the upcoming series,” admitted Misbah.
