Pakistan will be hosting http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c749 for a Test and One Day International series in the beginning of 2012. Due to security concerns in the country, Sri Lanka has been considered by the Pakistan Cricket Board and will be the likely venue for the clash.
It has been more than two years since any cricket playing team has visited Pakistan, after the attack on the Sri Lankan side in Lahore on http://www.senore.com/Cricket/March-c74391 3, 2009.
Pakistan played the ODI and T20 home series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 at Dubai and Abu Dhabi in November of 2009.
They played against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 at the same venues for a series including two T20 matches, five ODI s’ and two Test matches in October-November, 2010.
The two T20 matches against England were played at Dubai in February of 2010, while England hosted http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 in July, 2010.
PCB is negotiating with different countries for hosting their home series against England. Pakistan’s home series have been hosted quite a few times by the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/United-Arab-Emirates-c3033 and the Sri Lankan officials are optimistic about honouring the PCB this time.
“I have spoken to the cricket boards of both England and Pakistan and they have been very positive about playing the series in Sri Lanka,” Sri Lanka Cricket’s (SLC) Secretary, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Nishantha-Ranatunga-c79713, told cricket website Cricinfo.
PCB has not confirmed any venue as yet. Their Chief Operating Officer, Subhan Ahmed, disclosed that UAE and Sri Lanka will be the most likely venues.
Sri Lanka hosted quite a few group matches for Pakistan in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 successfully and the local crowd showed up to support the Pakistani team.
Sri Lanka is also favourable for PCB in terms of finances as compared to UAE.
