Sri Lanka...!!??

OPINIONS PPL...DO U THINK HOLIDAY COMPANIES WILL STILL BE LETTING PEOPLE FLY OUT TO SRI LANKA IN DECEMBER...BECAUSE OF ALL THE TROUBLE OVER THERE!..OR BY THEN DO U RECON NO1 WIL BE ABLE TO GO??..THANKS

Funny,  I was specifically looking for something concerning Sri Lanka when I switched onto Answers,  

The first time I flew into Colombo I arrived at about 4am   and was totally wiped out by the guards at the airport,    young men in uniform and carrying hige weopons,   once out of the airport area, there were tree houses which contained more guards  hiding in the trees etc, this happened all the way to the town of Colombo,

Of course the holiday companies wnat to make their commission,  they will not be honest about the situation in Sri Lanka,  

I have just read about all the troubles there, I use to go there quite often on business perhaps 8 times a year,  but quit about 5 years ago. - I dealt with the people in business and travelled extensively before the tsumani.  

I had dealt with many nationalities during my working life and have never found a less reputable group other than the Pakastinis ever.  I found such dishonesty and illlegality and slack actions rife,  slack because how can a country ever move ahead when they have to contend with the holidays for each religeon there,  there are hindu holidays which take care of 6 or so days per month, then they take the Christian holidays as well, then if you are inthe wrong area you have the Muslum holidays as well, when a business elsewhere is trying to get ahead there is no chance.  

There were even people who threatened the company with bombings and corruption so badly that the company thought it had to close, when we discovered that these threats came from the employees  who thought they could take over by threat.  It took a lot of money in graft to get rid of this threat.

I think that you can find a safer place to holiday than there, talk about unsafe - when the Prime Minister has to travel to and from work in Colombo by Helecopter instead of trusting the roads,   this should tell you something..

This country is very experienced in  sending human bombers into the city and you or they will never know before it happens,, it is full of corruption and the news coming out of the country is so highly censored that if you get hold of a local paper [which you will not on the web] you will see articles which clearly state "censored"  so that even the locals cannot see how bad the situation is.

I am sorry but whilst the surf may be great and the archoligical sites may be great, and the lifestyle may seem idialistic  there is no way anyone will be safe. you can go to a restaurant, i.e. The Cricket Club, or the Hilton Hotel, [they have been bombed]  and you will see armed security everywhere, you can go to a Government building and cross at least 4 security posts who search you.   Unfortunately this is a country which is called "the garment industry of the world" but if you want to go into a shop to purchase anything you will have to pass through security  barriers where the people wear guns,  sorry to disellusion you but all I can do is tell you the truth of the situation.

please find another holiday venue and come home safely  i.e.  Hawaii ,    Tahiti or Australian sites
