Sri Lanka rest Dilshan for the remaining ODIs, name rookie Tharindu Kaushal in Test squad – Cricket News Update
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 in the two-match Test series.
Kaushal has not played any first-class cricket so far but was part of the U-19 squad, which contested the World Cup in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746. He however, will face stiff competition with current first-choice spinner, Rangana Herath for a place in the first Test, which starts on November 17.
"Kaushal has a lot of potential and we have included him in the squad to allow him to get a feel of being in the presence of senior players and for him to train with them," Sri Lanka's chairman of selectors, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ashantha-Lakdasa-Francis-de-Mel-c46253, told ESPNcricinfo. "We will see how the other offspinner Suraj Randiv bowls in the first Test and then decide whether we should take a gamble with Kaushal."
The other notable changes also come in the bowling department with Chanaka Welagedara included in the group for the first time since getting injured against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 earlier in the year. Also Shaminda Eranga and Dhammika Prasad make a return to the Test setup, taking over from Thisara Perera and Nuwan Pradeep respectively.
The batting lineup is fairly settled, which sees the return of Test specialist http://www.senore.com/Cricket/TT-Samaraweera-c2712.
De Mel further confirmed that http://www.senore.com/Cricket/TM-Dilshan-c2691 will miss the remaining two ODIs after straining his back during his match-winning knock in the third ODI. His replacement will be Chamara Kapugedera, the only like for like change for the last two games.
"Winning the series is important, that's why we named the same squad for the remaining two ODIs, but if we win tomorrow we will give an opportunity to the players who have not got a game in the series so far in Monday's match."
