Sri Lanka trail by 481 in the second Test against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 - Cricket News Roundup – Part 1 – July 03, 2012
At stumps on the third day of the second Test between hosts Sri Lanka and Pakistan, the Lankans trail by 481 runs for the loss one wicket, after they got hammered by Pakistan for a massive total of 551 runs, at Sinhalese Sports Club Ground, Colombo.
However, with rain ruining the second and third day, the game seems to be heading for a draw, unless Pakistan bowlers pull off an amazing performance and bowl-out their opponents twice in a span of two days.
From http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KC-Sangakkara-c1779 ended the day with 46 and 22 runs to their names.
Pakistan coach http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Misbah-ul-Haq-c1972 in the 30 probables for the International Cricket Council World Twenty20.
This demand by the coach has come just weeks after the selection committee removed Misbah as the captain of the T20 squad.
However, under the leadership of Hafeez, Pakistan lost the T20 series to Sri Lanka, which has perhaps convinced Whatmore to see Haq back in the shortest format of the game.
A source within the PCB talking on the matter said, “Whatmore has requested the selectors from Sri Lanka to include Misbah's name in the T20 World Cup preliminary squad that has to be sent to the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 this week.”
However, according to the same source, the members of the selection committee are not too keen to induct Misbah back in the squad after he reacted sharply to their decision last month.
"Misbah's contention was that he had accepted charge of the team in all three formats at a tough time and brought the team together and also produced results. So, there was no justification for ousting him from any format," said the source.
Pakistan’s ousted wicketkeeper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kamran-Akmal-c70122, has been summoned to appear before Pakistan Cricket Board’s integrity committee on 04 July, Wednesday.
According to sources, Akmal cannot make a comeback in the national team before getting cleared by the integrity committee.
He last played for Pakistan in the semi-final of the ICC World Cup 2011, which Pakistan lost to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750.
