Sri Lanka v http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Clarke-c51120 happy with Pallekele pitch - Cricket News Update
Skipper of the Australian team, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Lions-c808 is scheduled to be played, seems to favor batsmen. However, the surface will still be supportive for spinners as well.
Clarke led Australia to a 125-run victory over http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Brian-Christopher-Broad-c48475 also rated the wicket as “Poor.”
The Aussie captain stated, “It's a lot drier than it was yesterday, but I am sure it will play much better than the one at Galle. The wicket is compact, it is hard. It is very important to put up big scores whether you bat first or second. I also think spin will play a big part as the game progresses.”
The Kangaroos will be looking to seal the deal by thumping their opponents in the second game of the three-match series, while the Lankan’s would be hoping to avenge the defeat they suffered in first one.
Clarke expects Sri Lankan cricket team to give them a tough fight this time around. For this very reason, he has advised his side to stay focused and bring their A-game when they go loggers head against the Lankan’s on Thursday, September 8.
Sri Lanka did not play Ajanta Mendis in first game and Clarke hopes they rest him in the next, as it will benefit Australia’s cause.
“I am pretty certain they will be tougher than they were in the first Test. There are a lot of good players in their team and we will have to be at our best if we want to win again. Mendis is a very good bowler with many variations. I will be very happy if he is again left out for this match,” said Clarke.
The Aussies will be without their star batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SE-Marsh-c2470, the left-hand batsman will come into the team as his replacement.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Simon-James-Marshall-c90362 has been part of Australian squad for some time but has not featured in a Test match and Pallekele would be a great opportunity for him to show his mettle.
