Sri Lanka v http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746: No matter what happens, Tillakaratne Dilshan not ready to quit attacking cricket – Cricket News Update
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/TM-Dilshan-c2691, the Sri Lankan captain, is not ready to quit batting aggressively, no matter what happens at the other end of the wicket.
Dilshan is widely regarded as the most blistering batsman in the current Lankan crew, as he holds a high strike rate in every version of the game.
After tasting a bitter defeat on the tour to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013, the Lankan side, under Dilshan’s command, failed to produce good results in the recent One Day International (ODI) series against Australia.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758’s misery continues as the home side suffered an embarrassing 125-run loss in the opening Galle Test, which ended on September 3, 2011.
The dismal show by the Lankan top-order, including Dilshan, is considered as one of the major reasons behind Sri Lanka’s lacklustre performance in the recent competitions.
Despite the fact that Dilshan got out cheaply in both innings of the first Test while playing aggressive strokes, the skipper is determined to carry on with his natural game.
"I'm not going to change my batting, I've batted the last three or four years aggressive and I want to play my own shots," said Dilshan who collected four and 12 runs during his brief knocks in the first and second innings respectively.
He realised the reality that as the leader of the troop, he needs to spend more time at the wicket and play an anchor role but at the same time, he is adamant not to change his risky batting technique since his natural style helped him perform outstandingly
over the years.
"Although I am the captain, I don't want to change the way I bat. This is the way that has brought me a lot of success. I play that well usually, but that day the ball went to Ponting. Had I got some quick runs that day (Wednesday), there could have been
a difference," added the belligerent opener who is hopeful to hammer Aussie bowlers in the second encounter, going to start from September 8, 2011 at Kandy.
