Sri Lanka v Kenya: ICC World Cup 2011- preview
2011 World Cup co-hosts, Sri Lanka, will hoping to get back to winning ways as they go against minnows Kenya on Tuesday, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/March-c74391 1 at R Premadasa Stadium, Colombo.
Sri Lanka lost the second match of their campaign against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 on Saturday, February 26.
The 1996 World Cup winners are considered as favourites to in International Cricket Council’s (ICC) signature tournament. But they won’t take the minnows lightly as Kenya defeated them in the 2003 World Cup.
However, Sri Lankan skipper, Kumar Sangakkara, doesn’t like the favourites tag. He said, “You can't change what other people say about us whether they say that we are good enough to win the tournament or whatever”.
The hosts will be looking to win the match by a great margin, while the visitors, who go into the match as underdogs, will be hoping for a repeat of their 2003 performance.
Jimmy Kamande, Kenya’s cricket team captain, believes that the Lankan side will go all out against them and said, “http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 look solid up there, but we have nothing to lose. They are the ones who would be under pressure to perform at home, and now obviously
having lost to Pakistan, it's a must win game for them tomorrow”.
Team form
The Lankan side is in great form and they’ll look to carry on that form. They have won three of their last five matches, which included a win over the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760.
Kenya’s side has been going through a lean patch. They have lost their opening two fixtures against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 and Pakistan. They have been able to win just two matches from the last five played.
Key players
Sangakkara is world class batsmen and leading his side at the World Cup, he’ll be looking to be the mainstay for his team. Angelo Mathews is another player, who’ll be looking to inspire his team to victory.
He has been in great knick off-late and averages 54.50 in the last 12 months. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Muttiah-Muralitharan-c78157 is probably the best spinner the game has ever seen and he will certainly trouble the Kenyan batting line-up.
For http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kenya-c752, Alex Obanda, will open the innings, he is a good stroke player and if he see’s off the new ball he’ll be very useful for the African side. Steve Tikolo is an experienced player, at 39 years old, and this will be his last World Cup so he’ll look
to inspire his side.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Collins-c51521 Obuya took five wickets in Kenya’s win against the Asian lions back in 2003 and he will be hoping to repeat that performance.
