http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gordon-David-Drummond-c60348, won the toss for Scotland, decided to bowl first as the home team loves to chase, which they proved yesterday against Ireland when Scotland chased down a huge total in the second innings.
Sri Lanka was off to a great start through former captain http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Frank-Dimuth-Madushanka-Karunaratne-c57388, as both of them accumulated 101 runs for the first wicket partnership, before the former was dismissed in the 20th over of the
innings.
Jayawardene took the attack to the home team’s bowlers and played some tremendous shots to hand over the advantage to the Islanders.
Sri Lankan captain, Tillakaratne Dilshan’s poor run of form continued as he was dismissed cheaply. Sri Lanka’s middle order could not live up to its expectations as a majority of the batsmen were off to good starts but they failed to capitalize.
However, Jeevan Mendis and surprisingly, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Separamadu-Lasith-Malinga-c89197, played little cameos at the end of the innings to make sure that their team posts a big total of 284 runs on the board for the loss of seven wickets in their allotted 50 overs.
Jayawardene remained the top scorer as he made 64 runs off as many balls with the help of seven boundaries and a six. Karunaratne also shined with a 60, for which he consumed 82 deliveries and struck three fours.
Mendis and Malinga scored 34 and 32 runs respectively at a brisk run rate at the end of the innings.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rana-Majid-Haq-Khan-c83907 and Preston Mommsen were the pick of the bowlers for the home team as they grabbed a couple of wickets each.
Chasing a http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Scotland-c756 was in trouble from the word go as they lost half of their team for just 36 runs on the board. Haq showed some resistance as he scored 34 runs. Only two other batsmen apart from
him were able to reach double figures and as a result, the whole team was bundled out for a mere 101 runs in the 33rd over of the innings.
Malinga picked up five wickets after giving away only 30 runs in his 9.4 overs. Dhammika Prasad also shined with three victims.
This result also signifies the difference between top class cricket and the second grade cricket of International Cricket Council, as a team which chased down 321 runs yesterday against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ireland-c751, hardly reached three figures in their innings
against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758.
