Sri Lanka vs England – 2nd Test – Live Cricket Score and Update
The opening session on Day 4 bore good news for both sides as http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 managed to score 80 to steady their second innings at the P Sara Oval, today, April 6, 2012.
In a testing morning, which saw a few dropped catches, a ban on alcohol for their fans, and venting at Dilshan, for his complaint regarding the 'switch hit' yesterday, the Poms were desperately defending a commanding first innings lead of 185, occasionally
resorting to sledging and verbal spats, forcing the standing umpires to intervene, much like they had to yesterday.
The start was promising though, after http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MJ-Prior-c1984 missed an easy stumping chance, the left-hander
was caught neither back nor forward to an Anderson’s delivery which swirled away sharply and got a healthy outside edge onto first slip, where http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AJ-Strauss-c964 duly obliged.
Dhammika Prasad was the opening night-watchman and chanced his arm to reach to 34. The right-hander struck five boundaries but was also lucky after being dropped by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/GP-Swann-c1501, who again remained the most threatening of
the bowler.
However, his luck soon ran out after he fell prey to a bouncer off a much relieved Finn, and handed a straight forward catch to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/A-King-c41197 pair. After playing and missing a few,
he finally got off the mark before hitting the pacer for a boundary.
Swann had been getting appreciable turn and bounce, which forced http://www.senore.com/Cricket/TM-Dilshan-c2691 to play a watchful innings. The flamboyant batter had reached 25 when the umpires made the call for lunch, but the startling fact was that he had not scored a single boundary.
Nonetheless, both players patiently grinded out the last overs of the first session - much to the frustration of the visitors. The Lankans posted 84 for 2, and will been keen to play out most of the day.
