Sri Lanka vs New Zealand – 3rd ODI – Toss Report
Sri Lankan skipper, Mahela Jayawardene, won the toss and elected to bowl first against New Zealand in the third ODI, currently being played at the Pallekele International Stadium, November 6, 2012.
Mahela’s decision was obviously influenced by the weather, which has played a major role in the series so far. The only ODI which was concluded was also influenced by rain, with the hosts winning via the Duck-worth Lewis method. The home side made no changes to their lineup.
"The weather is around. We need to make sure we have our heads up on the Duckworth-Lewis. It is tough to predict when the weather is going to come around."
Ross Taylor was convinced that rain will come at some point in the game but seemed content with batting first. The team managed a reasonable total in the previous match, and had a fair chance of winning only their second ODI in the last nine attempts, only for rain to spoil their progress.
The tourists made two changes to the side, bringing in experienced personnel in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/BB-McCullum-c1129 and Jacob Oram. McCullum missed the last clash due to a back strain but was passed fit for the encounter. He takes Tom Latham’s place in the side.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Taylor-c92915 hoped to make most of the playing conditions again.
"It is going to rain today, we know that. We'll try to utilise the new rules which are in the batsmen's favour. On these dry surfaces, it is a little bit easier [for spinners, under the new rules]."
The match will be played on a fresh pitch, but is likely to behanve like the one used for the second ODI, which was extremely dry. Rain is expected to arrive in the evening.
