Sri Lanka vs Pakistan – 5th ODI – Toss Report
Pakistan’s skipper, Misbah ul Haq, has won the toss in the fifth One Day International (ODI) against Sri Lanka and has opted to bat first at the R Premadasa Stadium, Colombo. This is an important toss to win as Pakistan have been poor chasers in recent times.
Sri Lanka is currently leading the series 2-1 and this is a massive opportunity for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/United-Arab-Emirates-c3033 (UAE) last year. The Green Shirts however,
will come out all guns blazing to seal the victory and share the honours in the series.
Pakistan have made two changes in the playing XI as they have rested http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Sami-c77289. Younis’ axing is not surprising as the batsman has struggled to perform consistently in limited-overs cricket recently
but Pakistan have taken a massive gamble by resting their premier spinner.
The Men in Green have faced massive criticism by the former cricketers after their disastrous loss in the fourth ODI. This is a great chance for them to make amends and to silence their critics. In case of a loss, Misbah’s captaincy can be under threat in
the 50-overs format as he has already lost the T20 leadership.
There can be huge changes in the squad as well for the series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746, which is expected to be played in August/September.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sajeewa-Weerakoon-c87976. This may well turn out to be an inspirational move as the Pakistani batsmen struggled to pick Mendis’ variations
in their last battle in UAE.
The momentum has shifted throughout the series and all of a sudden, Sri Lanka are now favourites to beat the Green Shirts. After the first ODI, the home team has looked a much balanced unit in all the three departments of the game.
Both the teams have lots to lose in this match and one can expect a nail-biting finish. Let’s hope that rain stays away, although we have a reserve day for this fixture.
